As a teenager, I grew up in South Florida but I never visited North Florida often at all. It wasn't until I got married did I ever go to Jacksonville, Florida. My husband and I ended up going to Jacksonville, Florida all the way from New York City. We went to Penn Station and bought train tickets on Amtrak and the entire journey would take about eighteen hours. So I remember we checked our baggage in, got our tickets and waited in New York City for the train to arrive.
When the train finally did arrive, we boarded and found our seats. I had never been on that long of a train ride before. The longest one I had ever taken was from Florida to Virginia. But the ride itself was really fun, even though it was super long!
Since it was an overnight train, when we woke up we were already in Florida. We got off at the Jacksonville Amtrak station and waited for our ride to come. That was the first time I had ever been in Jacksonville!
